First Date gone wrong!!
Dressed in my cutest designer jeans, wearing my most pricey 3 inch heels, and a little daring v-neck top, I proudly walk into a local restaurant with gleaming hope and excitement to meet a prospective suitor. I flash him my brightest smile as he walks toward me for introductions. I have to admit, the heart fluttered a bit, he certainly was handsome. That combined with the knowledge that he was a firefighter only added to my delight. I was relieved when he confessed that I didn't seem nervous at all. For once, my body language didn't betray me. Politely we chatted about work and such as we ordered food and drinks. Before the food arrived I noticed he was quite thirsty. Four beers in and the conversation on his part got rather intimidating. "My ex-wife this, my ex-wife that! I don't care if I stay single forever. I'm living for myself! If a woman doesn't like it, who gives a shit!" Such "interesting" revelations left me without an appetite. Of course this was an unspoken invitation for him to eat off my plate. I suppose when he complained that he had to drive all the way back to his house (20 minutes max), I should have asked him to come back to my house. Not attempting to be rude I replied, "Maybe you should slow down on the drinking if you are worried about driving." Suddenly he inquired about the time. 9:03pm. "Yep, it's past my bedtime," he comments. Well, at least he walked me to my car. Immediately I texted my girls and let them know it was time to hit the club. I spent the rest of my long awaited Friday night laughing with friends, listening to loud music, and dancing the night away. Overall, not such a bad "date."

Not to long ago, the assumption was that anyone who'd turn to their computer for love had to be a loser and someone who couldn't get a date. More recently, with the Internet changing everything from the way we shop to the way we find driving directions, cyberspace has become the hottest pick-up joint ever. These stories prove that normal, stable everyday folks are using the internet to find romance, but then sometimes... there's still a lot of freaks out there. |
